A 21-year-old Italian woman has hematohidrosis. Sweat in the form of fresh blood came out of his body. He had hematohidrosis for three years without any injuries or other triggers.
Hematohidrosis (bloody sweat) is a rare condition characterized by the release of sweat in the form of blood. People who have it can sweat blood on any part of the body, but the face and forehead are the most common locations. In the case of hematohidrosis, the blood that seeps out of healthy skin and shows no signs of open wounds, such as regular sweating.
In the early third century BC, Aristotle once wrote the story of people who sweat blood. Some researchers say, the release of sweat in the form of fresh blood may have something to do with the emotional distress experienced by the person.
In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus struggled very hard to face the cup of God’s wrath in order to bear the punishment of man’s sin. As usual, He secluded himself, knelt down, prayed, and communicated with God the Father. In His humanity, it felt like He was not strong enough to bear the call of being a great sacrifice. He was afraid, the more earnestly praying, His sweat was like dots of blood dripping on the ground.
The mind of Jesus was emotionally distressed, and it was in Gethsemane that Jesus’ will and the Father’s will were met through prayer. God does not remain silent. In His appearance through angels, He gave strength to Jesus who was struggling at the time.
Like Jesus, maybe in this life we struggle with difficult things. We are afraid and then pray, fast, and seek God’s will. God is happy if we continue to involve Him in prayer. Believe me, He will strengthen us just as He strengthened Jesus to do His sometimes difficult will.
