The beginning of the year is the right time to re-evaluate our lives. Because of busyness and busy routines, many people forget and no longer have time to reflect on what they have lived throughout the past year. Life is very short, it’s a shame if we go through it without meaning.
Have we wasted all this time, or have we filled our time with useless things?”Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
Many things need to be evaluated: ministry, work, studies, family, and our priorities. This evaluation aims to correct and improve the mistakes and deficiencies that we have done. After that we are determined to direct our eyes to the future. “… I forget what’s behind me and direct myself to what’s in front of me, and run to the goal to get the prize…”
When we look ahead there may be fear and worry because we don’t know what will happen. However, “Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his life. Therefore, do not be anxious and say: What shall we eat, what shall we drink, what shall we wear? All this is sought by the nations who do not know God… For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
As long as we put God first and live in the truth there is nothing to be afraid of and worry about tomorrow. Believe that God’s promises are yes and amen. Do our part, then God will surely fulfill His promises. Rise up! Don’t let the time you have wasted.
